Rose Lamartine Yates was a local suffragette who lived just up the road form Willow Bough Tea Rooms in Dorset Hall, Wimbledon. She played a key role in Wimbledon’s branch of the Women’s Social & Political Union (WSPU) becoming treasurer and organising secretary. The Wimbledon branch of the WSPU was known to be militant in their campaigns and Rose’s fight for equality saw her arrested and even serve time in prison. One hundred years on from (some) women being given the vote, we celebrate the courage and determination of Rose and her fellow suffragettes with this afternoon tea.
Presented in WSPU colours (green = give, white = women, violet = votes), you will enjoy:
delicate sandwiches;
mini fruit scones with jam and clotted cream;
macarons;
iced biscuits;
cupcakes;
and unlimited pots of tea.
All served on vintage china with linen napkins. £29.50 per person (minimum of two people). Booking required.
